5 Apr 2006 - March update

March was a busy month all round the presbytery. I visited the Coigach out of school club and Ann is doing an amazing work up there and is glad to have Catriona helping here.

I went to the Campaigners training day in Inverness and it was good to see people from the Ullapool and Poolewe Campaigners there. Mark also came up to pay us a visit in Aultbea and it was good to see him. The Poolewe Campaigners sale of work was cancelled due to snow but we had the stalls at our Noah's Ark performance. This was a great night with over 100 members of the public coming in to see it!

I went to the Ullapool youth fellowship one night and their singing was amazing!

The activity clubs in Aultbea were well attended and was good fun, although the egg painting got a bit messy!

Their was a joint youth fellowship one night with the Church of Scotland to hear Garry Brotherston sing and give his testimony and a good crowd from Aultbea and Gairloch went to this.

The out of school club in Kinlochewe continues to do well although we are now offering transport from the school as we see that this may be helpful to parents.

It is also great to be able to do assemblies once a month in Gairloch, Poolewe, Inverasdale and Bualnaluib primaries. I am also starting Badcaul primary in April, so that will be good.
The new youth fellowship in Kyle is a treat. There is a nice crew going along to that and new people would always be welcome.

I took a trip to the new badminton club in Dunvegan and although I didnt get a game of badminton (I couldnt really push a child off to let me on!) I got a chance to meet the children and it was a privilage to do the wee Bible talk.

I was meant to go to the youth fellowship in Portree but that got snowed off, so I am hoping to go in a couple of weeks instead. I did manage to Raasay out of school club though and Debbie and I thought we would have to stay in Raasay that night when the weather turned very white! We got over to Skye and I carried on down the road but ended up with an unexpected overnight stay! The Raasay club was great though and all 16 children have now been to the clubs.

I popped up to Kilmuir one afternoon as they hope to start a youth club up there, so exciting things are happening all over. I went along one night to a meeting held by the Church of Scotland about a scheme they are doing in primary schools called "Open the Book" which is bringing the Bible into primary schools through drama. It is an amazing resource.

Apart from these things, there is a lot of other things going on in these congregations as well as in the others not mentioned here. We are so thankful that there are so many willing volunteers to work with the children and young people in the presbytery and that the children are so willing to come along to all these things that are going on. We are also thankful to parents for supporting us in what we are doing.
